Service-learning is travelling with a particular focus; the focus being to engage with aspects of the places you are visiting. It is about appreciating diversity and connecting with the local environment and people to glean an understanding of their lives and culture.
It is about immersing one’s self in specific experiences that examine issues, particularly those arising from authentic interaction with people from different cultures and socio-economic groups. In this way, we are motivated to embrace other cultures and understand them.
Our Service-learning projects
A positive, mutually beneficial outcome is not guaranteed by an immersion experience or partnership unless it is carefully prepared and inclusive of a reflective process to recognize the challenges and to harness and enhance the potential for positive outcomes and above all ensure that our responses to global poverty limits our negative impact.
Student Educational Adventures strives to provide students with opportunities for meaningful service learning projects. All projects initiated and conducted are real projects, instigated after thorough consultation with a community, local government or village. All are non-exploitative and designed to make a significant contribution to communities and to challenge students, giving them an opportunity to find out what it is and what it takes, to make a difference to someone’s life.
