INDIA & NEPAL
Colours & Sensations
India is by far the most challenging of Asian destinations. Defined as being in the region of ‘West Asian’ by geographers, India is a country that pulsates with a spectacular mix of people, traditions and landscapes, unequalled anywhere in Asia. For students interested in a vibrant youth culture, Bollywood beats, exotic landscapes and a charming people this pocket of the world is bound to challenge, inspire and sometimes alarm those who visit.
Lying to India’s east, wedged between the high wall of the Himalayas and the steamy jungles of the Indian plains, sits the beautiful country of Nepal, a land of snow peaks, yaks and yetis, monasteries and mantras. Since Nepal first opened its borders to outsiders in the 1950’s, this tiny mountain nation has had an irresistible mystical allure drawing travellers from afar. The Himalayas most iconic and accessible hiking is some of the world’s best, with rugged trails to Everest, the Annapurnas and beyond. Nepal offers many wonderful opportunities for the student traveller and is a wonderful country for young people to develop an understanding of ecological issues and sustainable tourism.
